About Us
Justin is a father of two adult daughters, a former ad exec, travel enthusiast, and avid photographer who has embraced "the leap" and is enjoying life to the fullest through a new lens.
Kandace is a former business owner, animal lover, and art enthusiast who has made her passion for travel a life long journey. This life leap has opened doors to endless possibilities that she is excited to explore.

Both California natives, Justin and Kandace met in their mid 40s on a dating app, fell in love (yes, dating apps can work!), and spent time dreaming about their future together as they took their dog Sato on long walks throughout the Bay Area. Their nomadic life began when Kandace bought a wooden teardrop trailer and they spent many three day weekends camping and exploring up and down the coast of California.

These "tiny trips" as they called them eventually led to a pandemic induced "Leap" that encouraged them to get more out of life than the 9-5 grind and over consumerism lifestyle that the American culture had instilled in them. In 2022, they went against the grain, quit their jobs, sold most of their belongings, upgrading to a 20 foot Airstream Globe Trotter, and towed their tiny home across the country exploring big cities, small towns, national parks, and everything in-between. Early on in their courtship, Justin and Kandace had also dreamt about living in Europe someday. Justin explored the possibility of getting Italian citizenship through his lineage which eventually proved to be a long, tedious, and expensive task. Then after reading an article in Forbes in 2018 about the cheapest places to live, the idea of relocating to Portugal became their primary focus. Six years and countless hours of research later, they are finally turning this dream into a reality which brings them to another huge "life leap" which they are eager to share with you through this blog "Life Beyond the Leap"
